About Us
Skoob Books doesn’t only sell recycled knowledge; we hire it out, too! Sensitive to the appearance of books, as well as the contents, we can offer set dressing anywhere from one hero book to thousands of elegant volumes to line the walls of a private library.
Film, television, theatre, installations of any kind, private or public: for each requirement, we can rent out an accurate book set to lend veracity to the environment in question, and then get them back so they can be bought and read for their content, on top of having been appreciated for their appearance. So diverse have our projects been, we have experience from television idents and adverts to music videos; from BBC/ITV/Sky/Netflix dramas to blockbusters and Oscar-winning motion pictures; from cutting-edge theatre to opulent private homes to countryside castles.
Contemporary or period, pristine or well-loved, academic or pulp fiction – including anywhere in between – we are the go-to place to add that extra level of authenticity and aesthetic to your characters or surroundings. We pride ourselves on hand-picking the most appropriate books for the specification with care and diligence: there’ll be no shelves of beaten-up ex-library books (unless that’s what you’re after), and we’ll do our utmost to ensure everything is fitting for your scene, project or residence.
If the job we do is good enough to please Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Paul Thomas Anderson and Kenneth Branagh; to impress Johnny Depp, Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and even James Bond and Dr Who – among many, many more – then what are you waiting for? We provide expert consultancy and supply for all artistic book hires, on the back of years of experience. All we ask for is a bit of lead time, and that you show the books the same care that we do.
