Sophie is originally from Fife in Scotland. She trained in Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths College, University of London, before undertaking a Masters in Scenography at The Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating with a distinction. Sophie subsequently worked as a freelance designer, focusing mainly on Opera and Dance at venues such as Glyndebourne, and The South Bank Centre. In order to increase her career flexibility and focus on her love of filmmaking, Sophie decided to improve her technical skills, accepting a scholarship from the Dewar Arts Award to support her in a two-year training programme at the National Film and Television School. This Master of Arts Degree in Production Design for Screen is accredited by the Royal College of Art. In addition to the prestigious Dewar Award, Sophie has also been the grateful recipient of the Maxton Bequest, as well as awards from The Cross Trust and the Royal Scottish Corporation, which she has gained over the years, in support of her design work. Recently, Sophie has been employed by Warner Brothers, in the Art Department of âHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallowsâ. Here, she was responsible for re-working the main Hogwartâs scale model. Sophie is skilled in all aspects of Design and Art Department work including technical drafting, model making, visualisation, Photoshop, Vectorworks 2D and 3D, in-depth researching, construction budgeting, set building, set painting and dressing. It is Sophieâs ambition to have a rich and varied career across a broad spectrum of disciplines, both within live and recorded mediums, for stage and screen. See website for more details.
